Duckbill Platypus Pets

PURPLE SEA (D. de Mallorca, 2009)

Angela (Valeria Solarino) and Sarah (Isabella Ragonese) are childhood friends in the mid-nineteenth century Sicily. The war will separate and then find them as adults in the same places shared by girls. The love between the two, however, will have to fight with social conventions and, in the case of Angela, with a violent father and authoritarian.

The most interesting aspect of the film lies in the use of the voyeuristic camera, so evident in the numerous sex scenes. A perception secret, stolen, bodies sculptures of the characters is returned to the eye, where the shadow is changed upon exposure to light and try to protect them. But it becomes aggressive in the scenes that take place in the home in Angela's house, where the same shadow arrives to bury the body that had just caressed. Also nice counterpoint rock curated by Gianna Nannini.

Someone spoke of Verga atmosphere in the staging of the Risorgimento Sicily between sky, sea mines and tuff. But in relation to the comparison, a naive simplification of known social risk around each other. If at home the shame can be silenced, it can hide, this is not in the opinion of neighbors. As I Malavoglia , for example, the voices of the inhabitants of 'Trezza is in contrast to the perennial rumors of the family. In the movie of Majorca the role of "social" is sketchy. Perhaps the director has seen fit to condense the narrative around the happiness of two lovers captured, but the figures that form the backdrop to remain too modest.

perhaps missing is the perception of scandal. The talented Valeria Solarino does everything by itself, well it juggles the male role, preserving the right degree of ambiguity and intense sensuality. But the dramatic intensity is lost in the tracks and too blurry shared between a father too, and sometimes lack credibility, an aunt quietly mysterious but very present, a distraught mother and ethereal, one (repeat) population dazed and falsely implicated.

Shit From the book of James King Pilati, the title refers to the Purple Sea fish that change sex for love. Too bad that, before the caption before the closing credits, the movie does not if they make no mention.

RECIPE
sailor looking for a recipe to be proposed in this context, but that had little to do with traditional regional dishes or existing customers. I found something very interesting and perhaps unusual for choosing a particular variety of rice.
black rice with squid and artichokes

180g Wild Rice 180g smoked squid

2 tomatoes 4 artichokes
100 ml.
vegetable broth 1 lemon 2 shallots

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil salt and pepper parsley
Soak rice in cold water for 8 hours. Once soaked, boil in water jumps to about 30 minutes, then drain it al dente. Clean the artichokes by removing the outer leaves and thorns turned the base with a boxcutter. Then leave them in water acidulated with lemon. Wash the tomatoes, blanch 1 minute, drain them in ice water and peel. Delete seeds and cut the flesh into cubes. Finely chop shallots and stufateli in a pan with oil. Add the artichokes, cut into thin slices and saute 3 minutes with salt, pepper and a little chopped parsley. Add the smoked squid, cut into strips and blended with the hot broth. Add the tomatoes and finally the rice. Jump all over high heat, place the chopped parsley and grated lemon peel.
